California Non Profit Attorney

A unique area of the law that adds depth to my California law practice is my representation of not for profit organizations in private fund issues. As an executive director of the Banbury Fund for more than twenty years and a non profit attorney, I understand the complexities of tax regulations and nonprofit foundations.

Areas of interest and activity in my representation of non profit organizations include the following:

• Organization management
• Philanthropic organizations and donors
• Private foundation grants
• Donor intent disputes

Both individuals and groups of people often contact me to discuss protocol involved in establishing private foundations, making grants, maximizing tax benefits, and safeguarding against violation of donor intent by grant recipients.

My well-rounded professional background has much to offer not for profit organizations. Over the years since I was admitted to practice as a California lawyer in 1980, I have been involved in many important agencies, organizations, and educational institutions. I have held responsible positions including the following:

• Board member of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management district (1996-1999), and the Pacific Research Institute (1991-present)
• Executive director of the Banbury Fund (1978-present)
• Adjunct fellow at the Claremont Institute, Golden State Center for Policy Studies (1995-present)
• Adjunct political science and history professor at Chapman University
